The Garfield Park Conservatory has several botanical sections with the Palm House and Fern House occupying the largest spaces. The smaller ones are no less remarkable and the best of the smaller sections is the Aroid House. Let's have a look:

As the name suggests, this section is all about different kinds of aroids, planted together for a beautifully naturalistic and cohesive display. It is a showcase of different leaf sizes of aroids, from the minute to the largest, together creating a lush, jungle feel.
The section has a central pool, fed with a waterfall and pool itself has koi and some glass art installation by artist Dale Chihuly. There are also several areas to sit on to, to relax and immerse yourself in the jungle atmosphere.
It is great how the conservatory has been designed to separate plant groups but at the same time interlink them together very well under one glasshouse. As mentioned on our first post about Garfield Park Conservatory, if ever you find yourself in Chicago put this attraction high up on your list of places to visit. You'll be in for a wonderful plant treat!

DeleteI don't think you could have picked a better garden to visit on your trip to Chicago. I've only been in the area once but, if fate takes me back there, I'll be sure to check out the Garfield Conservatory. My local botanic garden doesn't even have a greenhouse anymore...
