Maybe I'm just in a surly mood, but these all annoyed me. There were one or two elements that I liked, but each garden did something that rubbed me the wrong way. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteFresh gardens....never fails to get strong and polarising reactions :)
DeleteBother, I didn't bump into you yesterday. Would have been nice to say hallo. The only garden that really annoyed me out of this lot was the cube.
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame, would have been nice to catch up with you!
DeleteI had the same reaction as Alan!
ReplyDeleteThe Garden of Potential makes me nervous. I'm not a fan of rocks suspended in the air. Stacked in strange ways, yes but their connection to the earth is important. Loved the lily pads in The Imperial Garden - Revive on the water but not so much in the tree. They'd be okay if they made a tree by themselves but they're battling with the living tree which is never a good idea.
ReplyDelete"Modern slavery garden"?!? I like the really lush, plant-crammed examples. The minimal ones somehow don't seem to agree with your climate--though the turf grass is eye-popping. It just doesn't grow like that here. Ever.
ReplyDeleteThese are always interesting but I couldn't get excited about any of them this year. In general, I liked the Garden of Potential best but that boulder on top of the arbor gave me the creeps. I'm sure it was explained by the brief but I still don't like it...
