I especially love seeing Scheffleras flush out new leaves, like a bunch of hands and arms reaching out, trying to touch the sky...
Okay, okay, it's not a Schefflera but what the heck!
The Scheffleras in our garden are just starting to flush and the ones above are among the earliest ones. More to follow in the next few weeks! Mark :-)
Great shots! I've been enjoying watching my S. taiwaniana leafing out. My S. delavayi is so small it doesn't have much impact. What species are the first two pictured? I love the golden fuzz!
Great photos, I love seeing the new foliage emerging on araliads! Looks like my Schefflera delavayi was killed to the ground, and still no sign of new growth...
Oh, I absolutely love that first one! Those orange buds are fantastic! Fatsias is as close as I get, and those are cool too. But, now you have me lusting after one of those rhododendrifolias - wow!

DeleteOh, if they didn't need so much water...
ReplyDeleteWhen that drought ends Kris, aralias must make its way back to your garden :)

ReplyDeleteGive it a bit more time John, fingers crossed they will come back from the ground :)
DeleteLovely leaves emerging, reminds me of what Cycas revoluta does. Plants never cease to amaze.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Gail :) and hopefully our cycads will flush this year as they didn't last year for some reason
DeleteWhat an eye-catching unfurling that must be to watch. Hard to believe that those new leaves turn green with age :)
ReplyDeleteVery eye catching Anna! The colour is more intense too when wet, and as it was rainy yesterday the brown colouration looked more vivid :)

ReplyDeleteHopefully rhododendrifolias will be widely available there soon Anna :)
DeleteOr are they alien hands reaching out to pull in unsuspecting gardeners and consume them? Either way, they're beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThey could be Peter ;)
DeleteIf I didn't need one before, I do now!
