This gardening blog follows our journey as we create our Tropical and Exotic themed garden. We hope you'll enjoy the journey as much as we do. We started our Exotic Garden in 2005 and this site will show its development, as well as our travels, both abroad and within the UK to gardens, nurseries and friends.
I intend to move my pond down the garden by 10 feet so I can make a bigger sun area as there is too much shade at the moment.

ReplyDeleteA composting area would be good - if I had the time and materials I would build a wooden composter, so this prize would be a godsend and allow me to concentrate more on rotating my small veg patch for potatoes. Planting to commence soon, I hope, for french beans, tomatoes, salad veg, herbs and strawberries as a good starting point.

ReplyDeleteWe have a really exciting year ahead having just moved into a new house with a large garden. It had been previously owned by some keen gardeners, but the garden was untended and overgrown for the last 5 years or so.
ReplyDeleteSo we are trying to clear all the dead plants away and uncover the 100s of bulbs which are springing up all over the garden.
Once we know what we have, we can plan a whole new garden scheme.
Tip out all the compost from all the pots as we had a few nasties in them last year!

ReplyDeleteThere are so many jobs to do in our garden I could just about put anything! Need to overhaul the veggie patch so we can get planting, lots of trees need a harsh hacking back. The whole garden is covered in weeds and we want to dig over a weedy area so we can turf. (It's a garden renovation to go with our house renovation!)

ReplyDeleteOnce the allotment is less waterlogged it needs to be totally cleared from what was left at the end of last season, the green manure sections dug in and planted up with potatoes firstly. Still too wet to do anything though :-(
ReplyDeleteHave already had to replace fence panels which has taken time and they were where we were going to train wisteria so that's one of the next jobs. ReplyDeleteThis year we are making some raised beds for veggies, i am planting another couple of fruit trees, moving some perennials as the border needs a good going over to remove the grass that has appeared and the brambles. Its very hard at moment due to so much rain, before my home was built in the early 50s there was a natural little stream that ran through the area and every winter it reappears through my back garden so its more of a swamp til may/june time. My greenhouse needs some work as the winds and cold have made it very brittle. so this year lots of things needing doing but i am so looking forward to getting out in the garden and watching nature take hold in the way she does with amazing flowers and veggies that spring to life from a tiny little seed.

Remove growing weeds from the lawn (I do this manually each year). Buy in some compost which I use when planting out flowers I buy in. General tidy up everywhere so that the front and back garden are ship shape and ready for action.
