A Different View

Have you ever wondered what a cat would look like viewed from below? Have you ever thought what a cat would look like seen through the figurative eyes of whatever it sits on to?

Well I haven't but before I even had the chance to wonder and ask myself these questions I saw this view of Twinkles for the first time this morning, as I looked up whilst having breakfast in the kitchen...

I suppose I can mimic this if I put her on top of a photocopy machine...
Okay, it's not really a gardening topic but since Twinkles is one of the many characters in our gardening blog I thought it would still be appropriate to feature this unusual view of her in here.

Two in One - a cat and a seagull
We had a fabulous weekend. The builders came over on Saturday and they finished off all the little and odd jobs that were still left outstanding.

Yep, that was it, everything that they're supposed to do have been done. The house renovation is over. It's up to us now to finish the decoration but as far as we're concerned, after months of living with them (it felt like that anyway) we finally have the house to ourselves once again.

Big smiles here :)))

Mark :)))

  1. I know that feeling of being in the middle of a home invasion when you have people working on either your home or your garden. I've had work done three times now on my garden, and even though they seldom come into the house, there are interruptions, and for someone like me who's somewhat shy, it is stressful. I'm so glad your home is now exclusively your own again.

    1. So glad indeed to have the home to ourselves once again. They are wonderful, pleasant people but still difficult to live with, and feels strange to have them walking in and out of the house in a project that stretched for months.

  2. Is there a better picture of perfect contentment than a sleeping cap (in any pose)? If so, I've never seen it. Twinkles looks beautiful from every angle. Now that your renovations are complete, I hope the 2 of you are also the picture of contentment. Enjoy the holidays in your "new" home!

    1. It does feel like a new home at the moment and enjoying that aspect of it. Twinkles looked so relaxed perched up there, I think she enjoys the vista of her territory!

  3. Cats are so efficient, and Twinkles found a spot to make the most of heat rising in the house below ! Mine are both way too lazy to attempt anything like this--

    1. I think in her later years she'll be too lazy to go up there but being a young cat still she does like her adventures. And yes, cats do like hanging around where the warmth relative to her surroundings is :)

  4. Hi Mark, I definitively have never seen a cat from that perspective. Kind of funny, interesting, and unusual! Congratulations to you guys for finishing the house renovation. I still remember when we remodeled our first house, how relieved I was when the last builder was out of the door. Now comes the fun part for you: decorating! Hope you post some photos! Wishing you a great week!

  5. So did you ever see Twinkles look down at you? Funny sight looking up at the furry under side of your cat.

Congrats on completing the renovation, it's all yours again!

    1. Yay, it all ours again Loree! And no Twinkles didn't look down on us, not even once and even when we were calling her name out load (that's good I suppose, means insulation and barrier is working).

    1. Twinkles looked so content, and she actually stayed there for quite some time. And yes so glad everything got finished just before Christmas!

  8. There is nothing quite like the feeling of waving off the builders - however nice and however competent - and taking back ownership of your home. Excellent timing, enjoy the peace! As for twinkles, I now realise you designed and decorated the entire conservatory to complement her colouring ;-)

  9. Oh my gosh, that's so funny! Big smiles here on seeing your photos of Twinkles - puts a whole new spin on the word furball! (No offense intended!) I'm sure your builders have been lovely (and well looked after over the long haul of house improvements) but how neat to have your home back to yourselves for christmas - and with time to jolly it up for the festivities (if that's your thing)! Have a great Christmas, guys! Caro x

    1. Thanks Caro! They were a lovely bunch and would happily use them again for future projects but yes, for now so glad to have the house all to ourselves again. Perhaps that's also the reason why Twinkles looked so content up there :)

  10. Only you guys would get photos of the cat from underneath. :) I always enjoy the shots of the cats though. I know how wonderful it must feel to be done with all the renovation work. Let me warn you, the work dust takes months to settle.
