We were surprised to see a number of Butia Capitata palms planted in the Channel Gardens outside the building, presumably they are potted and lifted for winter as I cant imagine them looking this good for long with the New York winter!
With the heat of NY and presumably ample watering the exotics look fantastic, the magnificent setting helps too!
We will share other short "postcard" posts from our trip as the week progresses.

You guys really are true gardeners. No matter where you go you find beautiful gardens. It's a wonderful gift. Hope you have a great time on your holiday and your renovations are all done when you get home.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to know that you guys are in New York! Hope you have a truly wonderful time there. But what can go wrong when you are in New York? Your photos taken from the top of the Rockefeller Center are just stunning! I also love the Butia Capitata palms planted in the middle of the city. So nice that someone cares to do that (and also gets them in safe shelter for the winter).

Nice photos of the buildings and Central Park. The highrises make me think of dominoes! Jeannine
ReplyDeleteDidn't realize you were coming over to the US. Hope you enjoyed your trip here.

It looks as though you're getting the most out of your trip. Thanks for sharing your pics! My mother was born and raised in NYC yet I've never been there (unless you count the airport).
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying tagging along on your New York vacation! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to New York for ages so I am really enjoying your photos! These urban green spaces are wonderful! Have a brilliantl holiday - you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteNew York, New York, what a wonderful town. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to New York in 25 years. I have no plans to go anytime soon so living vicariously through your photos is great.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Enjoying our stay so far, there's so much to do. And so many green spaces nestled in between the tall buildings. Managed to visit Central Park too but only half of it as its colossal.
ReplyDeleteI love the Rockefeller Center, it's probably my favorite part of NYC. Then again all you have to do is show me one Art Deco building and I'm swooning all over the place...so show me a group of them and throw in one of my favorite palms and I'm useless for the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteGreat...now I'm jealous of your trip to New York
I'm so happy you're getting decent weather while you take in everything. Thanks for letting us tag along!
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right about the potted palms. It had gladiolas when we went so maybe they change depending on the season / weather? Maybe someone from the city can enlighten us.
