Greenhouse Complete at Last!

We have had quite a productive day in the garden, with the final glass reinstated into the greenhouse. With the glass finished we then gravelled the floor, saving time over paving stones and also felt like the right ground cover for in here.

As soon as the glass was in a few plants moved in, various yuccas, palms and other succulents, all of which will enjoy a blast of heat being under glass. Now that we can finally use this space we can also tidy up various plants dotted about the main part of the garden that needed a home which should help make the rest of the garden feel a lot more tidy and easy to work in.

So with this greenhouse built and the paving complete outside it we are half was through the "working area" project, with just low walls for the smaller greenhouse to build and then the quarantine pond inside.

  1. Wow - I wish I had a green house like that, but it would take up half the garden, it looks huge! I suppose with the kind of plants you're going to put in there you don't need to think too much about blinds and shades if we ever do get any sun?

    1. Hi Sunil we are really pleased with the way it has come together. The plants should enjoy the sun shine.

  8. You're welcome to come round and sort mine out for your next project! I've nearly finished clearing my old one away, so should have room for an 8 x 8' after extending the base area. A bit smaller than your two (in combination) but, like you, I need somewhere for plants that like heat.

  10. So good to have such a large greenhouse, ours is a teeny thing. Great idea to have gravel for the flooring.

    1. I'm sure it will soon get full. Although we have plenty of plants waiting for homes.

  12. I am green with greenhouse envy, but I will overcome it to say that I agree with your use of gravel. I used it in a previous greenhouse and the plants rooted into it and occasionally through the weed-suppressing membrane, but that didn't matter. I preferred gravel to slabs and I would use gravel again were I to have a greenhouse..... I may have just turned a shade greener.

    1. It was quite warm, although not too hot in the greenhouse despite the sun.

  16. What a wonderful greenhouse to have, and yes, it will evoke envy in the hearts of many, but it really is all coming together beautifully, should be practical and attractive, which is a hard balance to reach. Enjoy!
