sucking my cheeks in and making fishy noises here...but I don't know how to spell it. Obviously they are coming up for a feed. Who says fish only have an attention span of three seconds!
Haha! Nice one Hazel :) I say they definitely have the attention span of more than three minutes. They can be 'dog-like' in behaviour most times when they see you on the edge of the pond and start begging for food, and get all excited and scramble together as you're about to feed them, really fun!
Fantastic Photo! I love Koi and I've worked in an aquatic centre(all but briefly), and I would definately agree they are 'dog' like and wonderful animals. If my garden was big enough I'd have a Koi pond in a flash!
Thanks The Sage Butterfly :) They're always hungry and can eat all day if they could.
Thanks Janet and HolleyGarden! It'll be awhile yet before the new pond is finished, hopefully summer next year. They'll have to make do with their current home for now :)
Our first house had a small koi pond next to the front door and we successfully kept three koi in there for 4+ years. They were the only thing about the house we missed when we moved. We gave the koi to friends of my in-laws who had a pond on their property. They lived there for quite a few more years.

ReplyDeleteSushi anyone?
ReplyDeleteHi DD, it's possible to have a koi pond even in a small garden as long as you make it deep enough to get the gallonage. Glad you liked the photo :)
ReplyDeleteNo sushi allowed here Clive! :)
Aw-w! They look hungry. They are lovely and healthy! Nice photo!
ReplyDeleteFabulous photo! I'm guessing that's not the new pond though ;-)
ReplyDeleteI, too, immediately though "Oh, you've got the new pond finished!". Beautiful fish. They are silly little things, always hungry.
