I'd love to know how long you've been growing this beauty!? I am lusting after one but so far they are few and very far between in the U.S. (not to mention VERY expensive).
This particular specimen was only dug up from another garden last year and planted out in our garden last spring. But this one has been growing in that garden for several years.
Yes Hazel, it's from Taiwan :)
We have several more Scheffleras in our garden, I'll do a blof about them at some point soon :)
Rather wonderful, though it looks a little sad too, the way its leaves droop, presumably from their own weight. Look forward to learning more about it.

This gardening blog follows our journey as we create our Tropical and Exotic themed garden. We hope you'll enjoy the journey as much as we do. We started our Exotic Garden in 2005 and this site will show its development, as well as our travels, both abroad and within the UK to gardens, nurseries and friends. See also our full about page

ReplyDeleteNow this is a plant that would not survive in Aberdeen. Finally sussed out wordless Wednesday (duh)
ReplyDeleteAlistair, this plant has been though -10C for us, and lower for other people, its one of the hardiest Scheffleras for the UK.
ReplyDeletePlantaliscious, I see what you mean about the droopy leaves, although it does look much better in the flesh.
Dear Mark and Gaz, What a beautiful plant! Wishing you a Happy New Year!
